Day 125: Funky me

Ok today will be a cheerier day I promise.

So I have for months been saying that I am going to take better care of my appearance.  I have done a lot of work to start being a better healthy me and I am proud of what I have achieved so far but most days I am wondering around looking like crap.  Now admittedly I do have a reason not to bother much.  I work from my house and the only people who really see my are all under the age of 11 anyway.  Point being they don’t care what I look like.

Well, I know that if you look good it can make you feel good so I have decided to put a little more effort into it.  Last night I finally started with the highlights in my hair.  My friend/hairdresser is going to help me create a funky look that suits my goofy bubbly personality by getting lots of colors in there over the next 3 months.  This month is blond ones, next month we will add some red ones, I may even do some purple ones at some point (though they wash out quickly) but the point is I feel good about it. I think that she is giving me an amazing rate for this too because I paid less than half of what the other woman paid who had the same thing done as me.

Yesterday I started planning for my husbands 40th birthday party.  I have reserved a place close to home for a mere $100 (is that not amazing!) and have a live band THE BILLY RUBEN’S willing to come play for just gas money (the same band that played on my weekend trip to small town Ontario, see link on left side bar) So it is coming together for little expense which is great because funds remain tight as always.

I started my guest list and made up the event on trusty old Facebook.  Actually it is funny as my husband is on Facebook too (only as I made him a profile) but he never goes on it.  As he never checks I made him an administrator to his own surprise party so I could message all his friends list.  Sometimes I amaze myself 🙂

So other than food, ordering a cake, some decorations and making up play lists of music for my iPod for between sets I think its pretty much done.

I love organizing stuff so much.

Well I should get back to life, but as always I wish you all a wonderful day!

Day 70: This and That

So the start of another new day.  I have noticed that my scale has a game it likes to play. Well its likely my body more than the scale really.  I hop on each morning and it will bounce up and down a few pounds each day throughout the week, usually the same weight or higher than the Friday weigh in.  The when Friday arrives again it suddenly shares a drop of soome.  I am not complaining about this mind you, I just think its cool how the timing works out.

As most of you know I take my body measurements on Wednesdays each week but I have decided to re evaluate that.  This seemed worth while for the inital period where I saw weight dropping off drastically but now it has levelled off I am going to cut back to once a month and align it with my monthly photo diary entry.

Yesterday was another normal day around here.  My husband is still off work and is being very useful around the house.  This week he has worked his way through the whole house washing down all the walls and cleaning the baseboard with an old toothbrush.  It needed to happen in a bad way though! All these kids makes for lots of fingerprints and dirt.  We took down all the drapes and washed the inch of dust off them too.  Spring cleaning in the winter!  We are ahead of the game.

Tonight is Aqua fit and I have recruited a new person in my friend Dawn. I am hoping she shows and comes because I am sure she will like the class.  I am trying to motivate her as she is also starting a weight loss plan.

I have decided that I am going to complete a 28 day cleanse although I strongly believe its going to kill me.  Basically its 14 days living by one set of rules (no fruit or carbs) a day of anything and then another 13 days by a different set of rules. Kevin thinks I am funny because I am planning this around our sons birthday. I want the “anything day” to be on his birthday so I can have a slice of his cake!!!  We have a woman who always makes the kids cakes and they are so good!

So I am going to do a lot more thinking and planning on this one!!

Well this is it for today, as always I hope you have a great day!

Day 58: Saturday

It is early on a Saturday morning.  It is a true sign of my dedication to weight loss that I am awake, dressed and functioning at 8.30am on a weekend.

Last night I slept terribly.  I didn’t go up to bed until around 1am because I was playing some addictive bubble game on Facebook. When I did get in bed I tossed and turned in and out of sleep for the rest of the night.  I heard my husband come to bed around 4am (which is foolish as we have lots to get done today).

My brain loves to process tit bits of information over and over, the downfall of being a virgo I guess.  It would be ok if I had ny control over it but thats just not the case.  So I toss and turn processing things that I have no control over.  It sucks.

So now I am off to be trained. There is not boot camp sessions until next Saturday so instead I am doubling up on training sessions for the week which is just as good.  Later today we will head out to my mother’s which could be good or bad depending on all the variables of the situation: her mood, my kids mood, kids behavior, husbands behavior, all playing a factor in how my day will go. Hopefully it will be nice, hopefully she can point out the positives in my weight loss to date rather than focus on the 70 lbs I still have to go.

Hopefully.

Anyway I need to get my butt in gear, so as always have a great day!

Mr Messy

Do you remember the Mr Men books when we were kids?  I sure do!

I think of them every morning when I go into my room to make the bed.

This may seem like an odd thing to say but have have my reasons.  You see I married Mr Messy.  I know ,I know, I seem to have all the famous men in my life ( I’m not really married to RPazz) and all I do is criticize them but that’s whata gals gotta do ta make it through the day!

So I present you with the evidence on hand. This would be the master bedroom of my house.  This first picture shows my side of the bed. ( I should mention that those cables you see irritate me, I have issues)

and this would be the other side of the bed. (the cables suddenly seem less significant to my sanity)

So you can see the problem right?

I mean what more can I possibly do for him?  This picture was taken the day after “the experiment”.  You see the laundry basket is usually in our closet, and his clothes are usually on the floor as they are in this photo.  I thought that I would place the actual basket on the spot he leaves his clothes each night to see if this would be enough of an incentive to insert them in for me.  I personally think he put them on the floor just to spite me (I know I would). This went on for about a week.

So I had to let it go, the basket is back in the closet and each morning a pile of clothes lay on the floor. Each morning I pick them up and walk the 4 feet over to the closet to put them in the basket.  I tried to leave them on the floor so that a mountain of laundry would form (plus he would run out of clothes as I only wash whats in the baskets) but then I realized that this could lead to a full nervous breakdown for me.

I knew this would not work as I did the same thing with clean laundry.

I color sort it, wash it, dry it, fold it, sort it out into persons piles and thats the end of it. All my kids (even the 6 year old) take their piles and put it away. My husbands pile grew and grew in a basket I placed on the nightstand, it was twice the height of the basket. I nearly went insane looking at it each day (this picture is taken about the middle of the pile height) but I left it alone.  I found a solution one weekend while at his parents house for dinner. I tattled on him. His mother tore him a new hole about being lazy. We went home that night and I got the silent treatment but it was worth it because guess who put his laundry away!   I think I should e mail this pictures over to her later today………….

Moral of the story ladies?

Sometimes a mother in law can be useful, and sometimes tattling can work in your favor rather than just giving you the usual headache.

Watch for the next segment regarding cereal, bowls and coathangers……
