Day 102: Cereal and Candy

Have you ever actually used a measuring cup to portion out your cereal?  Most will not have unless they are counting calories for a better self.  A bowl of cereal and a cup of cereal are two differant things entirely thats for sure.  So keep this in mind as you look at these statistics.

I’m not going to lie to you.  I love sweet sugary crappy cereals, theres just no denying it really.  I might like it but I no longer eat it at all.  Hell, I wouldn’t even have it as a “treat” anymore.

A 3/4 cup serving offers your body the following:

Calories: 110

Total Fat 1.5 grams

Sat Fat: 0

Protein: 1 gram

Sugar: 12 grams

Fiber: 1 gram

Sodium: 150 mg

Now I want to offer another option for you.  Not one that you should seriously use but one that should prove the “value” of the above breakfast.  Instead you could have a bag of skittles because thats a comparable choice to the cereal.

Calories: 125

Total Fat: 1.5 grams

Sat Fat: 1.5 grams

Protein: 0

Sugar : 23 grams

Fiber:0

Sodium: 0

Clearly both are terrible choices but there is no denying they are comparable and this is the problem.
